Why use PPCs when HEPTs are more powerful?

PPCs have the range necessary because of the large dimensions of the capital ships. A GHEPT in the top turret would barely reach the nose of the ship. Also don't forget, the sooner you start shooting, the more hits you will make, which could mean that in the end the PPC is more deadly.
